Description:
A wonderful example of an early Maling jug well decorated with an over painted transfer of a ship in full sail and two versos surrounded by coloured decorations using the typical palette of yellow and green etc. Conjecture has it that this type of jug commemorates the death of King William IV known as the 'Sailor King' as there was never such a ship in the Royal Navy.
Circa 1830
Approx - 7.25 inches (185mm) tall.
In good condition throughout save a chip to the rim and base.
